The apparition of Saturday, October 13, 1917

 

Crowds at Cova da Iria.

 

There were between 50,000 and 60,000 people present at the Cova da Iria on October 13, 1917, believers and non-believers alike. Was the miracle announced by Notre-Dame in the previous months going to happen? The rain, meanwhile, was there!

 

Believers had great confidence in Our Lady's promises made in previous months. The parents of François and Jacinthe were among them. As for Lucie's mother, she was more worried and wondered what was going to happen in case the miracle did not happen. The children, meanwhile, remained calm in front of such a large crowd.

 

The apparition of Notre-Dame.

 

We closed the umbrellas to recite the Rosary, the faithful even knelt in the mud, then suddenly Lucie saw the light which precedes each apparition. In fact, Notre-Dame was there! She appeared above the holm oak and spoke to Lucie. She tells him :

 

“I want to tell you that a chapel is being made here in my honor. I am Our Lady of the Rosary. May we always continue to recite the Rosary every day. The war will end and the military will soon be returning home. "

 

Lucie asked Notre-Dame for healings, who gave the following answer:

 

"Some will heal, others will not, because they must correct themselves, ask forgiveness of their sins. (And taking a sadder air): We must stop offending more God Our Lord, because He is already too offended ”.

 

During the conversation the crowd could see, around the holm oak, three times, a cloud forming which then rose in the air and disappeared.

 

Father Formigão, the same day, questioned Lucia who affirmed that "Our Lady asked to recite the Rosary, to correct us of our sins, to ask forgiveness from our Lord, but did not speak of penance."

 

The miracle of the sun.

 

As Notre-Dame rose in the sky, the light that emanated from her was projected on the sun. It was then that the crowd could contemplate the dance of the sun.

 

The rain stopped, the clouds disappeared to give way to a clear sky. The crowd could then look at the sun without hurting their eyes. There was a great silence. Then the star started to tremble, making sudden movements and then it turned on itself, revealing beams of lights of all the colors of the rainbow. It seemed that the star was approaching the earth and the crowd was seized with concern. Indeed, while maintaining its rotational movement, it seemed to detach itself from the sky and move towards the crowd, zigzagging. Some people really panicked and passed out but eventually he stopped and everything was back to normal, much to everyone's relief. Those present, amazed, could see that their clothes, soaked by the rain a few minutes before, were now completely dry!

 

An extraordinary phenomenon visible to all!

 

No astronomical observatory has recorded this phenomenon. Yet people of all walks of life, of all ages have seen it, whether they are believers or non-believers. The atheist journalists who had come there to speak out against Fatima recounted this phenomenon in their newspapers. It also turns out that people several kilometers from Fatima witnessed it, which rules out the hypothesis of an optical illusion or a collective hallucination.

 

The vision of the three shepherds.

 

While the crowd, for ten minutes, could contemplate this miracle of the sun, the three shepherds, for their part, had the privilege of seeing, near the sun, three successive paintings.

 

THE VISION OF THE HOLY FAMILY: Beside the sun appeared Saint Joseph with the Child Jesus and Our Lady, dressed in white with a blue mantle. Saint Joseph and the Child Jesus seemed to bless the world, with gestures they made with their hands, in the form of a Cross.

 

THE VISION OF OUR LADY OF SORROWS: After the first vision above, the children saw Our Lord Jesus Christ and Our Lady of the 7 Sorrows. Our Lord seemed to bless the world.

 

THE VISION OF OUR LADY OF MONT-CARMEL: in this last vision, Our Lady appeared alone in the aspect of Our Lady of Carmel.

 

Only Lucia benefited from the three visions while Jacinthe and François saw only the vision of the Holy Family.

 

The last apparition of Our Lady at Fatima.

 

This was the last appearance of Our Lady at the Cova da Iria.

 

Lucie became a nun. François and Jacinthe died a few years later, as Notre-Dame had told them. Francis and Jacinta were canonized by Pope Francis on May 13, 2017.
