The prayer of the Rosary

All the seers of Lourdes, Fatima or Medjugorje insist on the request made by the Blessed Virgin Mary. In Lourdes and Fatima, the Virgin asks for the prayer of the Rosary daily. In Medjugorje, the Virgin, according to the seers, invites to recite the three parts of the Holy Rosary every day. The luminous mysteries are more particularly prayed on Thursday.

What is a Rosary?

A Rosary is made up of three rosaries:

The joyful mysteries, the luminous mysteries or the painful mysteries, the glorious mysteries.

How to recite a rosary:

Begin by making the sign of the Cross.

Then recite the "I believe in God:"

Then say one "Our Father", three "Hail Mary" and the "Glory to the Father".

We can also after each "Glory to the Father" add the short prayer taught by the Blessed Virgin to the children of Fatima:

"O my Jesus, forgive us our sins; preserve us from the fire of hell and draw to Heaven all souls, especially those who need your Mercy the most."

Every ten: One "Our Father" and ten "Hail Mary", we meditate with the Blessed Virgin Mary on an event in the life of Jesus. We meditate on the joys, the sufferings and the glory of Christ made man. For this, it is good to read a passage from the Bible to nourish our meditation.

The sign of the cross

How is the sign of the cross made?

We make the sign of the cross by putting the right hand to the forehead, then to the chest, then to the left shoulder and thence to the right, saying:

“In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. So be it. "

Or in Latin:

“In nomine Patris, and Filii, and Spiritus Sancti. Amen. "

The prayer of “I Believe in God” or “Creed”.

Among all the symbols of the faith, two hold a very special place in the life of the Church: the Symbol of the apostles and the Symbol of Nicaea-Constantinople. To pray the Rosary, one can take one or the other.

The Apostles 'Symbol is so called because it is considered to be the faithful summary of the apostles' faith.

I believe in god,

the almighty Father,

creator of heaven and earth;

and in Jesus Christ,

his only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

was born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified,

died and was buried,

went down to hell,

the third day rose from the dead,

ascended to heaven,

is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,

from where he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

to the holy Catholic Church,

to the communion of saints,

to the remission of sins,

in the resurrection of the flesh,

to eternal life.

Amen.

The so-called Nicene-Constantinople Symbol derives its great authority from the fact that it resulted from the first two Ecumenical Councils (325 and 381).

I believe in one God,

the Almighty Father,

Creator of heaven and earth

of the visible and invisible universe.

I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ

the only begotten Son of God,

born of the Father before all ages

He is God, born of God,

Light, born of Light,

true God, born of true God,

begotten, not created,

of the same nature as the Father,

and by Him all was done.

For us men, and for our salvation,

He came down from heaven;

by the Holy Spirit,

He took flesh from the Virgin Mary,

and became man.

Crucified for us under Pontius Pilate,

He suffered his passion and was buried.

He was resurrected on the third day,

according to the scriptures,

and He ascended into heaven;

He is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will return in glory,

to judge the living and the dead;

and his reign will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

who is Lord and who gives life;

He proceeds from the Father and the Son;

with the Father and the Son,

He receives the same worship and the same glory;

He spoke through the prophets.

I believe in the Church,

one, holy, catholic and apostolic.

I recognize only one baptism

for the forgiveness of sins.

I wait for the resurrection of the dead,

and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

These syntheses of faith are called “professions of faith” since they summarize the faith professed by Christians. They are called "Credo" because of what is normally the first word:

" I believe ".

The prayer of the Our Father

Our father in heavens,

Hallowed be thy name,

your kingdom come,

your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

Forgive us our trespasses,

as we also forgive those who trespass against us.

And don't let us get into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

Amen

The Hail Mary prayer

I greet you, Mary full of grace;

the Lord is with you.

Blessed are you between all women and Jesus,

the fruit of your womb is blessed.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,

pray for us poor sinners,

now and at the time of our death.

Amen.

Prayer of Glory to the Father

Glory to the Father,

and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was at the beginning,

now and always,

For centuries and centuries.

Amen.
